ABOUT USGI
Built to Develop Keepers
USGI was created to advance goalkeeper development by providing specialized expertise, evaluation, analysis, and individualized development solutions for goalkeepers and clubs. Through direct player development and club partnerships, USGI helps create clearer development pathways and more intentional goalkeeper environments.
How USGI Works
Two Ways To Develop Keepers
DIRECT PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
Individualized evaluation, game analysis, development planning, and ongoing mentorship designed around the specific needs of each goalkeeper.
CLUB PARTNERSHIPS
Working alongside clubs to evaluate goalkeeper programs, identify development needs, and build clearer systems and pathways for their goalkeeper population.
EXPERIENCE BEHIND USGI
Built From More Than 20 Years of Goalkeeper Development
USGI was founded by Tim Kelly, whose goalkeeper development experience spans more than two decades across the youth, collegiate, and professional levels. His work has included roles with Club, Top Division 1 Program and MLS, helping develop goalkeepers at every stage of the pathway. Experience at every level is important but understanding the development stage as a club grew from 20 teams to 300 gave an inside view of how to perfect programming, retain keepers year to year all while still producing some of the top keepers in the country year to year.

MY PERSPECTIVE
My journey as a coach has taken me from the grassroots level, through the collegiate game, and into the professional environment and across to Europe to study some of the top clubs in the world. Along the way, I learned that developing goalkeepers is about more than the influence of one coach. The environment and the program surrounding the goalkeeper matter just as much.
I experienced that firsthand in a club environment that grew from one team per age group to more than 300 teams. It gave me the space to fail, learn, adjust, and continually refine how goalkeepers could be developed—from working with small groups of four to managing groups of twelve while still developing some of our countries top goalkeepers.
Those experiences shaped the vision for USGI: to take what I have learned developing individual goalkeepers and extend it to entire goalkeeper programs. We want to be a resource and an extension of the groundwork clubs have already put in place.
Together, we can raise the standard of goalkeeper development across the country.
